Scott Mead

Scott Mead is an international investment banker and an avid philanthropist who supports medical, educational, and arts organizations.

 

The years in investment banking

 

Scott Mead started his career in investment banking in 1982 at First Boston Corporation’s New York offices, and in 1986 Mead moved to Goldman Sachs. During his nearly twenty years with Goldman Sachs, Mead held a number of positions, making partner in 1994 and becoming a managing director in 1996. While at Goldman Sachs, Scott was involved in both managerial and business activities, including leading and helping to oversee transactions valued at hundreds of billions of dollars.

 

The later years

 

In September 2006 Scott Mead held the position of senior advisor at Apax Partners, a position that he held for two years. During this time he was also the chairman of the company’s technology and telecommunications advisory board. In 2008, Mead put his many years of investment banking experience to use by becoming one of three co-founders of Richmond Park Partners, an independent financial consulting firm specializing in risk and asset management and corporate finance.

 

Photography – from hobby to career

 

When he was 13 years old the young Scott Mead received an old camera from his grandfather, which led to an interest in photography that has grown over the years. Prior to the start of his banking career, Mead took several courses in photography and studied under some of America’s best photographers of the time. Following a successful exhibition of his photographs at Hamilton’s London gallery in 2010, two of Mead’s photographs – “Untitled” and “Evening Light” – were selected to be included in the 2011 Royal Academy’s Summer Exhibition. This exhibition is the world’s largest open exhibition for contemporary art, and an integral part of London’s art calendar.

 

Background

 

Scott Mead was born in the US and relocated to London in 1988 when he worked for Goldman Sachs. Mead studied in the US and was also a Harvard Scholar at Cambridge University. Through the Mead Family Foundation, Scott Mead contributes to a number of charitable causes.
